International Rolex Regatta 2007
St .Thomas, US Virgin Islands

The 34th International Rolex Regatta, hosted by St. Thomas Yacht Club, has been scheduled for 23-25 March 2007. An annual favourite on the Caribbean racing calendar, the three-day event features handicap and one-design racing benefiting from professional race management, dependable trade winds and a varied and challenging schedule of races.
The regatta includes both windward-leeward and distance courses on the sapphire blue waters surrounding the archipelago of the US Virgin Islands. Beachside social activities blend St. Thomas Yacht Club's island-style hospitality with the outstanding camaraderie and competition that hundreds of participants have come to expect each year.

'All sailors can count on cool breeze, warm water and a splash of rum,' said Regatta Co-Director John SWEENEY. 'Every year we have a wel rounded fleet, ranging from small cats to maxis, with sailors from all walks of life and levels of experience. For 2007, we're working to add classes for Farr 40s, Melges 32s and Swan 45s.'

Yachts racing under the CSA (Caribbean Sailing Association Rating Rule, www.caribbean-sailing.com) will include Multihulls, CSA and One Design classes of at least 24 feet as well as Beach Cats. Continuing over three decades of tradition, winners of qualifying classes will be awarded trophies for first through third places, and the winner of each class will take home a Rolex timepiece.

'Wearing a Rolex won at the International Rolex Regatta or another one of the prestigious Rolex regattas held worldwide is the mark of a champion,' added SWEENEY.

The International Rolex Regatta's 2007 organizational team will have at its core three coordinators. Bill CANFIELD, who coordinates operation and use of St. Thomas Yacht Club's facilities, will serve as Regatta Coordinator, while Sandy SYMKENS will join John SWEENEY as a Regatta Co-Director.

Deadline for all entries will be Monday 19 March 2007.
