Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006
Sanxenxo, Galicia, Spain

Spanish watchcaptain and helmsman Guillermo ALTADILL, part of the Swedish Team Ericsson's crew, is undoubtedly one of the most experienced participants in the upcoming edition of the Volvo Ocean Race that will start on 12 November from Vigo, Spain.
Then ALTADILL will embark on what will be his 4th Whitbread/Volvo Ocean Race and his sixth rounding of the planet. Quite a mouthful for a familyman who is married and has three children but states that, 'to race around the world is my job and a way of life'.

As for his participation in this edition of the Volvo Ocean Race, 2005-2006, with Team Ericssson, ALTADILL says that he is very confident because, 'I've been sailing with most of the other crew members before and I'm sure that our combined experience plus the hi-tech and accurate construction of our boat Ericsson will give us the ultimate push...'

ALTADILL already tasted ocean race victory twice: winning The Race with Club Med in 2001 with Neal MCDONALD (GBR) and breaking the Round the World Sailing Record, as helmsman on Cheyenne owned by the American millionaire Steve FOSSET, in 2004. He also finished third onboard Galicia Pescanova (Whitbread 1993-1994) and second on Assa Abloy (Volvo Ocean Race 2001-2002) and expects to be at the top of the podium in this edition, onboard Team Ericsson.
