JOWELL, who attended last week's co-hosted IOC-Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXX Olympiad London 2012 (LOCOG) Orientation seminar, also thanked President ROGGE for this IOC initiative, which served to bring together representatives of the various authorities with a role in the London 2012 Games and to set them on the right course for Games preparations based on IOC Games know how. Special attention was also paid during their discussions to the importance of the positive sporting, social, economic and environmental legacy the Olympic Games can bring not only to London, but to the whole of the Great Britain.
ROGGE thanked the British minister for the support of the British government, as demonstrated by its speed in moving forwards with necessary Olympic legislation, and its commitment to ensuring the delivery of new constructions on time and on budget. Commenting on the meeting, ROGGE said, 'Mrs JOWELL and I had a very constructive meeting. Government support for the Olympic Games and LOCOG is absolutely vital to ensuring their success, and my meeting with Mrs JOWELL left me in no doubt that the UK government is not only fully behind the London Olympic Games and its organizers, but is also enthusiastically embracing all that the Olympic Games can bring in the way they inspire individuals and society at large.'
