'OnBoard' the RYA's flagship programme aiming to further develop the sport of sailing amongst the youth of Great Britain has a new look website aimed specifically at exactly the demographic they want to get into the sport - The Youth of Great Britain.
'OnBoard' has been developed by the RYA to introduce sailing and windsurfing as a sport for youth whatever their needs and abilities. With an overall drop in the numbers of people participating in or taking up the sport in the first place, the RYA realised there was a real need to actively recruit new people to the sport.

The 'OnBoard' scheme aims, over the next ten years, to introduce over half a million children to sailing and/or windsurfing. Through a nationwide network of 'OnBoard' Development Officers operating and co-ordinating 'OnBoard' programmes as well as inspiring volunteers to give their time and benefactors their money.

Using established RYA training centres, most of the framework is already in place. At the Queen Mary Sailing Club situated on a resevoir in the West of London, there is a Youth Sailing Group every Sunday afternoon, where membership is free if you have your own equipment, but for a nominal fee you can go along and use the clubs equipment.

RYA Scotland have a similar development programme - www.sailinginthecity.org.uk have a look at their website for more information about specific projects taking place.
