The regatta was sailed with a three man crew in UFO22s.

Ten teams competed with Britain's Ian WILLIAMS, the highest Ranked sailor at the event at number eight in the ISAF World Match Race Rankings. America's Paul CAYARD made a return to match racing, competing in his first ISAF Graded match race event since 2001.

The opening round robin was a tight affair with NEUGODNIKOV and SIMONCELLI coming out on top with seven wins from the nine flights. Eric MONNIN (SUI) took third place with six victories whilst the final semi final place saw a three way tie between CAYARD, WILLIAMS and the Kiwi team of Laurie JURY.

CAYARD had defeated them both during the round robin so the tie went in his favour. However, the American was not to progress further going down to SIMONCELLI in the semi. NEUGODNIKOV won a tight match with MONNIN 2-1 to progress to the final where the Russian seemed more comfortable, winning 2-0. In the third place match, MONNIN beat CAYARD by the same score line.
