The wind was light for the final day, six to ten knots and a small classic boat won the race: Bona Fide of Roman owner, Giuseppe GIORDANO. For the occasion Officine Panerai CEO Angelo BONATI was onboard and helped defeat the great Mariette owned by Tom PERKINS.
During the joyful prizegiving, AIVE Chairmam Gianni LOFFREDO gave thanks for the great support given to the 2005 circuit, and with Yacht Club Santo Stefano commodore Silvano CALVETTI, mayor of Porto Santo Stefano NAZZARENO ALOCCI, Spanish CIM Chairman Damian RIBAS, helped distributed the big prizes to all the class winners. Grand prizes went to the two overall winners: Marilee, owned by Riccardo BANCHETTI in the Vintage Class; and Galvana, owned by Spain's Borja PELLA in the Classic Class.
The event was hailed a big success by all involved. The atmosphere during the three days was excellent, with exciting races on the water on a unique race course between Talamone and Argentario, constant winds and perfect job done by the Race Committee.
The next Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge will be in the Balearic Islands, Spain. From 24-27 August Port Mahon will host the Copa del Rey de Barcos de Epoca, where organizers are expecting about 50 yachts for more fantastic racing.
