Although only one race was completed it bought both fleets up to nine races sailed and therefore a second discard is now being counted. However this has had little affect on the top of the two leaderboards.
The bullet in yesterday's men's race went, by a distance, to Ante CESIC and Ante KUJUNDZIC (CRO), although the Croatian pair still lie 17 overall. At the head of the leaderboard, defending champions, Nick ROGERS and Joe GLANFIELD (GBR) finished fifth and with the second discard increased their lead from one to five points. Javier CONTE and Juan DE LA FUENTE (ARG) remain second. A second place yesterday for Sven COSTER and Kalle COSTER (NED) puts them third, tied on points with the leading team in the ISAF World Sailing Rankings, Gideon KLIGER and Ehud GAL (ISR). The French team of Benjamin BONNAUD and Romain BONNAUD drop one place to fifth. Álvaro MARINHO and Miguel NUNES (POR) followed Saturday's RAF and OCS with another bad result. They ended race nine in 20th place and it now looks like their challenge for the title is over.
ISAF World Sailing Rankings leaders, Ingrid PETITJEAN and Nadège DOUROUX (FRA) had another top two finish yesterday to further tighten their grip on the Championship. They now lead by seven points going into the penultimate day today. Nike KORNECKI and Vered BOUSKILA (ISR) remain their closest challengers after finishing one place behind the French pair in third. Fourth place yesterday sees current World Champions Therese TORGERSSON and Vendela ZACHRISSON (SWE) move into the top three. A bullet yesterday for Vesna DEKLEVA and Klara MAUCEC means they climb three places to fourth. Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Champions in the 420, Elise RECHICHI and Tessa PARKINSON (AUS), round out the top five. As a result of the second discard and their sixth place yesterday, 2004 Olympic champion in the Europe, Siren SUNDBY, and crew Karianne MELLEBY (NOR) move into tenth place.
The Championship continues today and the racing got off to a start as scheduled at 1100.
