for an inside look at the 'Sailing the World' exhibition.
The 'Sailing the World' exhibition, produced by the Spanish bank La Caixa and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Museum and organized in collaboration with ISAF and the Valencia City Council, looks back upon the vast history of sailing, tracing its origins as a mode of transport through to its development into a worldwide sport.
The ISAF President was at the opening of the exhibition on 2 May and thanked La Caixa, the Valencia City Council and the IOC Museum for the commitment to the project. With the 32nd America's Cup moving into its final stages, Valencia is currently at sailing-fever pitch and the exhibition is set to receive several thousand visitors over the Spanish summer, before it moves to the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland this September.
The exhibition is free to the public and combines audiovisuals, photos, models physical exhibits and a number of scale models to bring the history of sailing to life.
Formed in 1907, ISAF will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary throughout 2007.
Amongst the highlights of ISAF Centenary celebrations will the 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships and the 'Sail the World' weekend from 1-2 September. ISAF will also be publishing a 100 Years of Sailing commemorative book and launching the ISAF Sailing Hall of Fame.
Every ISAF event throughout 2007 will be an integral part of the Centenary celebrations. Whether a local regatta, or a World Championship event, everyone counts. ISAF would like your event to remember what a special year it is, so welcomes everyone to use the specially commissioned Centenary logo.
