The Israel Yachting Association have announced the team that will be travelling to Busan, Korea to compete in the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship from 14-23 July.
Israel have been one of the most consistent fixtures at the ISAF Youth Worlds appearing in all but eight of the Championships since they began in 1971. In the second ever ISAF Youth Worlds they won the first of six gold medals, with E. FREIDLANDER victorious in the 420. In 1988 a young Gal FRIDMAN
won a silver medal in the Mistral at the ISAF Youth Worlds in Barcelona, Spain. 16 years later he became Israel's first ever Olympic gold medallist on the same equipment. Last year Israel's success also came on the Mistral with another silver medal, this time for Nimrod MASHIAH
MASHIAH will be back at the ISAF Youth Worlds this year looking to add to his medal tally. In the windsurfer girls event Maayan DAVIDOVICH also makes a return to the Championship after placing fifth last year. In an experienced team, Amit BROKMAN appears at the ISAF Youth Worlds for the second consecutive year with crew Ben ESHEL, who sailed in the 2003 Championship in Madeira, Portugal.
