SCHEIDT and PRADA had built a seven point lead over Mateusz KUSZNIEREWICZ and Dominik ZYCKI (POL) after four races. After rounding the top mark of race 5 down in 22nd, the Brazilians turned on their downwind afterburners and fought back strongly in very light winds to wrap up the regatta with a second place finish.

Brad NICHOL (USA), crewing for World Champion and world #1 Hamish PEPPER (NZL), was suitably impressed the Brazilian victory, 'They did it with the kind of moves that leave you wondering if they have an engine hidden away somewhere on their boat.'

In the final race of the Championship on Tuesday, KUSZNIEREWICZ and ZYCKI were able to hold on to second place, whilst Matthias MILLER and Manuel VOIGT (GER) saw their medal hopes evaporate as they finished way down the fleet in 46th. Diego NEGRI and Luigi VIALE (ITA) moved up to take third place overall.
