New Zealand Women's Match Racing Championship 2007
Auckland, New Zealand

Nicky SOUTER (AUS) and her crew of Kylie MCKILLOP, Lilly TAYLOR and Rayshele MARTIN representing the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club won the 2007 ISAF Grade 3 RNZYS New Zealand Womens Match Racing Championships, held over the past three day on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour
The regatta, now nicknamed the New Zealand 'Light Airs' Match Racing Championships, was sailed in extreme light airs and consequently only one Round Robin was completed. SOUTER and her TEAM MUSTO sailed brilliantly in the tough conditions winning every race over the last three testing days of light airs match racing!

SCRIVENOR Second

Second overall was Amanda SCRIVENOR (AUS) representing the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. SCRIVENOR and the youth girls sailed fantastically only losing to SOUTER and Jessica SMYTH (NZL).

SMYTH and team finished third overall but will meet SOUTER again at the ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championships in France later this year - and SMYTH said at prizegiving she is looking forward to it!

Sam OSBORNE (NZL) and crew representing the Lion Foundation Youth Training Programme completed the top four.

Praise For Race Committee

The Race Committee lead by Judy SALTHOUSE were more than commended at prizegiving for completing the round robin in what was the most trying conditions that have been seen for a long time on the Waitemata Harbour. Each team thanked the Race Committee and the mark laying teams who were moving marks every leg to keep the racing going.

Jan DAWSON (NZL), Amy MULCAHY (NZL) and SMYTH were extremely appreciative of the umpires and their de-briefings and always making themselves available to answer questions and 'help make us get better' SMYTH commented.

The rising star of the regatta was Tiffany KOO (MAS) with her all Kiwi team representing the Royal Selangor Yacht Club, Malaysia who grabbed fifth spot overall.
