Laser European Championship 2007
Hyères, France

It was another light day in Hyères, France for the final race in the qualifying series at the ISAF Grade C1 Laser European Championship. Tom SLINGSBY (AUS) will take a two-point overall lead into the gold fleet, after Nick THOMPSON (GBR) closed the gap on the Aussie leader with a second place in Wednesday's only race.
Well over 200 Lasers are in Hyères for the 2007 Europeans and Junior Europeans, and world #2 SLINGSBY has led them right from the start. On Wednesday the light conditions of the previous two days continued and racing did not get underway until a 3-6 knot westerly filled in late in the day.

SLINGSBY posted his worst result of the series with an eighth which he immediately discarded, whilst THOMPSON, 2004 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Champion, came in second to leapfrog Michael LEIGH (CAN) and climb up to second place overall. It was also a good day for the other leading Brit in the competition, defending European Champion and world #1 Paul GOODISON (GBR), who posted his first bullet of the series to move up to ninth overall.

In the Youth Europeans, a bullet for Igor LISOVENKO (RUS) puts him top ahead of Emil CEDERGARDH (SWE) and Gael GUILBAULT (FRA).
