Connect To Sailing

Hobie Cat Europe is the latest sponsor to partner with ISAF in the Connect to Sailing programme.
Hobie Cat Europe joins existing sponsors Performance Sailcraft, Hyde Sails and the European Confederation of Nautical Industries (ECNI) in support of the ISAF initiative to increase participation in sailing from the grassroots up.

Hobie are builders of boats and equipment for sailing, kayaking and fishing, but they are best known for their multihulls and the so called 'Hobie way of life'. Hobie have a huge global following with more than 100,000 boats around the world raced by sailors of all ages and ability. They are the second boat manufacturer to support the Connect to Sailing initiative alongside Performance Sailcraft.

John DINSDALE of Hobie Cat Europe, said, "It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that Hobie Cat become involved with Connect to Sailing. It is our belief, that more people are leaving than are joining our sport and for sure that has us concerned. We remain committed not only to supporting the racing part of the sport, but additionally, we believe firmly in trying to attract more people to sailing, that the enjoyment of the sport is crucial to introducing and having young people stay on."

Industry Partners

Performance Sailcraft, Hyde Sails and the European Confederation of Nautical Industries (ECNI) have all been involved with Connect to Sailing since the partner programme started in 2006 and continued their support in 2007.

In partnership with some key figures in the sailing industry, ISAF aims to strengthen the position of Connect to Sailing and drive the initiative forward.

Performance Sailcraft are the largest dinghy manufacturer in the world and are particular well-known for the production of the massively-popular Laser dinghy, used at the Olympic Games since 1996. Hyde Sails, founded over 40 years ago, produce 30,000 sails every year for boats of all shapes and sizes. The ECNI represents the German, Belgian and French professional nautical federations and has direct contact with 1,200 companies from all sectors of the marine industry.

Connect To Sailing Seminar

Affirming ISAF's focus on its relationship with the industry the forthcoming ISAF Connect to Sailing seminar will focus on the sailing industry. The ISAF Connect to Sailing Seminar will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 4 October 2007 in Estoril, Portugal.

Connect to Sailing is a global initiative led by ISAF to increase participation in sailing. It is based upon grass roots activities with a focus on youth.
