International 470 Class Association News

The International 470 Class Association are inviting applications for crews wanting to attend the 2008 Worlds in Melbourne with funding from the 2008 Olympic Pathway Solidarity Grant.
The 2008 ISAF Grade W 470 World Championships will be held in Melbourne from 21-30 January 2008. These Championships will be the last qualifying regatta for the two person dinghy men and women events at the 2008 Olympic Games.

At the end of 2006 the International 470 Class Association decided to create a special grant - the 2008 Olympic Pathway Solidarity Grant - to help 470 sailors to compete in the regattas qualifying nations for the 2008 Olympic Games. The first step of this 2008 Olympic Pathway Solidarity Grant consisted of making chartered boats available free of charge for six crews in Cascais and providing the selected crews with free training and coaching.

The second step of the 2008 Olympic Pathway Solidarity Grant consists of helping 470 sailors to finance boat shipping to Melbourne to take part in the World Championships. Click on the link below for full details.
