A special effort has been made to invite all past 505 world champions to the 'Grand 505 Ball', including such noteworthy sailors as Paul ELVSTRÖM (DEN), Marcel BUFFET (FRA), Peter COLCLOUGH (GBR), Steve BENJAMIN (USA), Chris NICHOLSON (AUS), and Yves PAJOT (FRA). Many other past world champions such as Howie HAMLIN (USA), Cam LEWIS (USA), Ethan BIXBY (USA), Krister BERGSTROM (SWE), Wolfgang HUNGER (GER), and Ian BARKER (GBR), who are well into their 40's and 50's, are still competing for another crack at the title.
Austin YERKS, Business Development President of CSC's Federal Sector in the USA, said, 'CSC is delighted to be associated with such a prestigious and historic sporting event. The 505 is truly a global class with a superb image, and a long history of collaboration and camaraderie among its members. These are qualities shared by CSC.'
Although CSC is based in the USA, the company has thousands of employees worldwide, including a large presence in Europe where the 505 is very popular. CSC has also extended its sponsorship to two 505 teams for the regatta, with one from the United States and one from host nation Germany.
'CSC is well known to sporting fans in Denmark as the sponsor of the Danish-based Team CSC Cycling' said Tom BÖJLAND, president of the International 505 Yacht Racing Association. 'We now welcome CSC's involvement in the sport of sailing, and look forward to a memorable championship.'
