Established in 1979, Zaoli Sails produce a wide range of sails for both the racing and cruising markets as well as manufacturing sailcloth. Zaoli Sails will be licensed to produce sails for the International 420 and International 470 classes under the IHC scheme.
Another Italian sailmaker, Olimpic Sails are also interested in progressing the IHC scheme. Based in Trieste, Olimpic Sails have been producing sails for the International 470 class since they were first founded in the 1980s.
There are a number of other sailmakers lining up to be involved in the scheme including North Sails in Great Britain, the USA and Japan, Performance Sails in the Netherlands and Quantum Sails in Spain.
The next phase of the ISAF IHC scheme is to expand to include other ISAF classes who may wish to become involved in IHC for sails. This will begin in the coming months. Looking further forward, it is anticipated the scheme will expand further to cover rigs, hulls and hull appendages by the end of the year.
Classes, MNAs and manufacturers wishing to become involved or find out more about the ISAF In-House Certification scheme should contact the ISAF Technical Department for further details, or visit the ISAF IHC microsite at www.sailing.org/ihc.
