The Canadian Yachting Association's Sailor Development Committee of the Racing Division has set a goal to send a full team to experience this annual event, which includes ten athletes and three coaches.

In the fall of 2006, two athletes qualified to the 2007 Canadian Team in the Girl's One Person Dinghy Laser Radial and Boy's One Person Dinghy Laser, at the Laser / Radial National Qualifier Regatta in Vancouver, BC. At the 2007 ISAF Grade 1 Rolex Miami OCR, one youth sailor met the criteria for the Boy's RS:X board entry. And most recently, at the 29er Midwinter Championships in Sarasota, Florida, USA, four athletes qualified for the Girl's and Boy's Two Person Dinghy entries.

The last trial to take place is for selection of the Open Multihull entry in the Hobie 16. This trial will take place in Canada at the Central Okanagan Sailing Association in the interior of British Columbia. The three day event will take place at the annual Springtime Regatta, running from 19-21 May. The Notice of Race is pending and will be posted shortly.
