After a great week of racing in Barcelona, the final day rounded off the regatta perfectly, with northeasterly winds of 20 knots, building beyond 25 by the finish and waves above 2 metres.
HERNANDEZ took the Laser and overall titles after finishing second in the Medal Race, whilst overnight leader LIMA only managed to come in eighth. The disappointing showing from the Portuguese world #6 saw him drop to third place overall, as Medal Race winner Mike BULLOT (NZL) climbed up into the silver medal spot.
The home supporters also had victory to celebrate in the Laser Radial. Gintare VOLUNGEVICIUTE's (LTU) run of six straight bullets came to an end with an eighth in the Medal Race. After leading right up until the end of the penultimate day, a fourth place in the Medal Race shot Lucia REYES (ESP) back to the top of the leaderboard and her first win in an ISAF Graded event. REYES's young team mate Susana ROMERO (ESP) came in second in the Medal Race to secure third place overall.

Panagiotis KAMBOURIDIS and Gera OROLOGAS (GRE) displayed their mettle by winning the Medal Race to take overall victory away from Matthias SCHMID and Florian REICHSTAEDLTER (AUT). Like REYES, the Greek team record their first ever win in an ISAF Graded event and got their better of their four-time Olympian team mates Andreas KOSMATOPOULOS and Andreas PAPADOPOULOS (GRE), who finished fourth.
The Pharo Regatta was the first qualifying regatta for the 2007 Spanish Pre-Olympic selection in the Laser, Laser Radial, Men's and Women's 470. The focus on the Olympic Classes now switches to Palma and the ISAF Grade 2 Princess Sofia Trophy, where racing begins on Monday 2 April.
