On Monday night at the traditional Soirée des Champions, organized by the Fédération Française de Voile, Michel DESJOYEAUX was named as French Sailor of the Year for 2007.
DESJOYEAUX has had a fantastic year, winning the Solitaire Afflelou le Figaro and the Transat Jacques Vabre with Emmanuel LE BORGNE on the 60 foot monohull Foncia.
He succeeds Lionel LEMONCHOIS, winner of the 2006 Route du Rhum - La Banque Postale as French Sailor of the Year. DESJOYEAUX receives this price for the second time; he was already crowned for his victory in the Vendée Globe in 2001.

The awards evening took place during the Nautical Paris Boat Show with DESJOYEAUX beating seven other nominees to the award.
