Mistral World Championships 2005
Palermo, Italy

Ricardo SANTOS (BRA), who narrowly missed out on Olympic medal in the last race in Athens, is arriving in Mondello, Italy as one of the main protagonists in the Mistral World Championship, held from 13-20 May.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 8 May 1980 and winner in the Mistral class of the Panamerican Games in Santo Domingo in 2003, the Brazilian athlete came within a whisker of winning an Olympic medal in Athens last year. Needing a top sixteen finish to secure a podium place, SANTOS came in 17, dropping him to fourth overall.

In the coming world championship, SANTOS will be looking to repeat his form in the earlier races in Athens that saw him rise to the top of the leaderboard before being overtaken by eventual winner, Gal FRIDMAN (ISR), and then suffering his disastrous final race.
