Robert SCHEIDT and Bruno PRADA (BRA) take a four-point lead into the Star Medal Race, whilst Fernando ECHAVARRI and Anton PAZ (ESP) have a six-point advantage in the Tornado.

The Stars were scheduled to start at 15:00 local time, but currently a fierce wind, blowing over 30 knots across the harbour and over 40 knots further offshore, causing athe cancelation of all races with the exception of the Star and Tornado Medal Races. Both Medal Races are still postponed because of the wind

The latest possible starting times for the Medal Races are 20:00 local time.

Outside of the two Medal Race fleets, there is also a big battle for the final Olympic spot in both classes. No US star sailor made the Medal Race, leaving Mark REYNOLDS and Hal HAENEL (USA) with the job off holding off the Irish and Croatian team for the 11th Olympic qualification spot.
