ISAF Annual Conference 2007

Day two at the ISAF Annual Conference taking place in Estoril, Portugal, brought together the Commissions of the Executive Committee .
This morning the International Regulations Commission, Medical Commission and Coaches Commission held their meetings, as did the Olympic Classes Sub-Committee.

There are a total of six Commissions reporting to the Executive Committee (the Classification Commission, Athletes' Commission and Training Commission are the other three), which act as a direct link between various elements of the sport and ISAF. The Commissions are made up of some of the leading names from different areas of the sport - for example, triple 470 World Champion Marcelien DE KONING (NED) chairs the Athletes' Commission - and report to the ISAF Executive Committee. They compliment the traditional Committee structure by giving the Executive Committee a firsthand and expert account of the issues affecting their area of the sport.

This afternoon ISAF President Göran PETERSSON chaired the Executive Committee in their second of four days of meetings. They will convene again tomorrow morning, whilst their final meeting is on 11 November following the ISAF Council meetings.

Tomorrow the Conference hits full speed with nine meetings including the ISAF Classes Committee and the Women's Forum.

Hall of Fame, World Sailor & Conference Links

With 2007 being ISAF's Centenary year, there are also a number of celebratory events alongside the intensive meeting schedule. Highlights are the launch of the ISAF Sailing Hall of Fame, and announcement of the first six inductees, on Monday 5 November, and the presentation of the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards on 6 November.
