ISAF Annual Conference Underway

ISAF Annual Conference 2007

The 2007 ISAF Annual Conference began in Estoril, Portugal today, with ISAF President Göran PETERSSON chairing the Executive Committee meeting.

Today is the first of eleven days of meetings in Estoril, culminating in the meeting of the ISAF Council from 8-10 November, where the key issues at this year's Conference, including the ten events for the 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition, will be decided.

Tomorrow morning the International Regulations Commission, Medical Commission, Coaches Commission and Olympic Classes Sub-Committee all have their meetings before the Executive Committee reconvene in the afternoon. Saturday is the longest day of the Conference with the first meeting, of the International Measurers Sub-Committee, starting at 07:30, whilst the Women's Forum does not finish until 21:00.
With 2007 being ISAF's Centenary year, there are also a number of celebratory events alongside the intensive meeting schedule. Highlights are the launch of the ISAF Sailing Hall of Fame, and announcement of the first six inductees, on Monday 5 November, and the presentation of the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards on 6 November.
