Hermann and Katrin CORNELIUS from Germany have been presented with ISAF Silver Medals for their contribution to the success of the International Sailing Federation.
Jeff MARTIN, ISAF Council member and chairman of the ISAF Classes' Committee, presented Hermann and Katrin CORNELIUS with their ISAF Silver Medals at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in London last Friday.

Hermann CORNELIUS was the Sailing Director for the 1972 Olympic Games in Kiel, Germany. In the same year he became the inaugural Chairman of the German Laser Class Association and his wife, Katrin, became the secretary. For the last 35 years they have together run the German Laser Class Association from their home. During this time Hermann has served as Chairman of the European Laser Class Association and also as Vice-President of the Laser Class World Council with special responsibility for ISAF matters, consequently attending a number of ISAF meetings.

Between them they organised the second Laser World Championship in 1974 at the Kiel Olympic Centre.

Apart from their Laser work they have both helped in every Kiel Week, now an ISAF Grade 1 regatta, since the early 1970s.

Hermann and Katrin have recently retired from their position in the Laser class for health reasons. Their last official duty will be to introduce their successor to the European Council of the Laser class at its Annual European Meeting at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in London, Great Britain on 24-25 November.

ISAF would like to thank Hermann and Katrin for their dedication to the sport of sailing and ISAF.
