The Rocky Point Yacht Club held it's Annual Labor Day Regatta on 1 September with great success. It was the clubs largest event in recent years and competitors sailed in six different fleets - Ideal18s, Lasers, Club 420s, Pixels, Optimists and even a Sunfish!
With winds between 9 and 11 knots, gusting up to 15, it was a challenging day for the smaller boats but four races were nonetheless completed.
Certificates were awarded to all participants and the ISAF Centenary flag was flown all weekend below the club colours.
The Yacht Club event t-shirts have the club burgee and the date on the front and a large graphic of the Sail the World logo on the back.
'Thank you for the inspiration and encouragement in getting as many sailors involved as possible - it was a great day and enjoyed by all.' Rocky Poin Yacht Club, Old Greenwich, CT, USA.
Thank you again for helping ISAF celebrate 100 years of sailing - let's get out there and Sail the World!
"I am very proud to be President of the International Sailing Federation as we celebrate 100 years. What is evident is that the past one hundred years mark a period of vibrant and exciting growth for sailing. A period when the spirit of solidarity, friendship and passion for sailing has prevailed over borders, religions, genders and cultures. This weekend of 1-2 September, the "Sail the World" celebrations capture the very spirit of sailing. I am delighted at the number of events, clubs and classes all over the world partnering with ISAF as we join together to "Sail the World."'
Formed in 1907, ISAF will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary throughout 2007.
