Trofeo Marco Rizzotti 2005
Venice, Italy

2004 Optimist World Team Racing Champions Poland gave warning of their intent to retain the title in winning the XIX Trofeo Marco Rizzotti in Venice, Italy.
The final was a repeat of the championship in Ecuador with Poland beating 2004 silver medallists, Italy 2-0. Germany beat the Italian provincial team, Lombardy 2-1 to take bronze. Earlier Poland had beaten the round robin winners, Germany, 2-0 in the semi final, whilst the Italian national team triumphing over the provincial team, Lombardy, 2-1 in the other semi.

Pier Bruno RIZZOTTI reports: 'On Sunday 8 May the semi finals and finals were sailed on a glorious day with sun and fresh easterly wind blowing up to twenty knots . Poland, Team Racing World Champions with Kacper STANIUL, Martyna WATCZYK, Yakub KRAWCLYK and, Viktur KOBRYN won the Trophy'

He continued, 'These three days will be remembered for the best ever sailing conditions, sunny and windy, and for the presence of a group of competitors among the strongest in the world .'
