The British teams were on top form on day three of the ISAF Team Racing World Championship.
The GBR 2 team of Andrew BRYSON, Nicola RUSSELL, Matthew FINDLAY, Georgina CORLETT, Thomas HEBBERT and Susan SHORT were the star performers of the day in Gandia, with five wins and just one loss in series two of round two.
The teams of 420s zipped around the course in a shifty northwesterly breeze which ensured the race committee had to work hard all day long. The USA 1 New York Yacht Club Silver Panda
team of Clay BISCHOFF, Lisa KEITH, Peter LEVESQUE, Elizabeth HALL, Colin MERRICK and Amanda CALLAHAN went into the day unbeaten but saw their perfect record vanish in two very close matches with GBR 2 and GBR 1.
After GBR 1, the Australian AUS 3 team where the next best performers of the day posting five wins (including one against GBR 1) and two defeats. The NZL 1 team also put in a strong performance on Thursday with wins against AUS 1, GBR 1 and GBR 3, whilst the second US team matched their compatriots with a 4-2 record. It was not such a good day for the hosts Spain as the ESP 2 team were on the receiving end of six losses in the gold fleet, whilst ESP 3 and ESP 1 only posted three wins between them in the silver.
On Friday the competition continues with the conclusion of round two, series two.
