Ekaterina SKUDINA, Diana KRUTSKIKH and Natalia IVANOVA (RUS) today took over the lead from Anna BASALKINA, Vladislava UKRAINCEVA and Ekaterina MAXIMOVA(RUS). After an excellent performance with wins of both race 5 and race 6, the Russian team take over the lead of the Championship, three points ahead of Janneke HIN, Annemieke BES and Floortje HENDRIKSEN (NED) in second place.

It was a beautiful autumn sailing day in Warnemunde with temperatures in the mid twenties, sunshine and 10-15 knots of wind. With six races now sailed and the worst score discarded there were some changes in the result list. After discarding a 15th place Sofia BEKATOROU, Sofia PAPADOPOULOU and Christina CHARAMOUDANI (GRE) move up to third position. The separation is only 20 points among the top ten boats and with four races to go before the Medal Race much can happen.

The two German crews are having a tough regatta and were often seen keeping a close eye on each other. Kristin WAGNER, Anna HOELL and Anne-Katrin PFISTER currently hold the advantage in the German battle, in seventh place, two points ahead of their nation rivals.

The team of Ekaterina SKUDINA, Diana KRUTSKIKH and Natalia IVANOVA (RUS) manage to extend their lead and are now six points ahead of Anna BASALKINA, Vladislava UKRAINCEVA and Ekaterina MAXIMOVA (RUS).

The best result of the day was made by Mandy MULDER, Brechtje VAN DER WERF and Marje KAMPEN (NED) with a second and a first. This moves the team from the Netherlands up to third overall.

This morning the sailors were leaving the harbour in light winds, low clouds and rain. Throughout the day the weather cleared and the wind increased and the second race of the day was sailed in 10-12 knots.

Results are preliminary as several protests have been filed.

Dutch sailor Janneke HIN (NED) has unfortunately fallen ill and is resting at the team's base with high fever. After approval of the jury she was substituted with Marjon KOOISTRA (NED). Replacement of the person who is steering is not permitted in some classes, but in the Yngling class every member of the crew is considered equally important with the natural result that you can, proven necessary, substitute any member of the crew. The team's coach Maurice PAORDFEKOOPER (NED) commented that with a lay day tomorrow he hopes that HIN will be fully recovered. Talking about the substitution PAORDEKOOPER commented that in the past it was common that the person at the helm was the big boss but with modern professional crews every member is important. The Chairman of the Jury, Thomas KRESSE said that a team should be considered as one unit and the perception that the helmsman is the boss of every team is somewhat old fashioned. KRESSE of course respects that some classes have chosen other solutions for different purposes.

Wednesday is spare day and since all the eight scheduled races so far have been completed there will be no racing tomorrow. On Thursday the final two races will be sailed before the Medal Race which will take place on Friday for the top ten teams. The teams not qualified for the Medal Race will sail an 11th race just before the Medal Race.
