The young Franco-German skipper, Isabelle JOSCHKE (Degrémont-Synergie) won the first leg of the Transat 650, arriving in Madeira at 02:30:30 UTC on Monday.
JOSCHKE claimed leg one victory in the 89-strong fleet and now occupies pole position as the fleet prepare for the start of the second final leg to Bahia, Brazil.
As expected the 30 year old female skipper was held up for a long time by lack of wind close to Madeira.
