ISAF Race Officials News

The deadline for First Applications and Renewals of ISAF Race Official Status is fast approaching, with the final date for completed applications to be received 1 September 2009.
Completed First Applications and Renewals, including Nominating and Reference forms were applicable, must be received by the ISAF Race Officials Secretary no later than 1 September 2009.

The new digital system for 2009 applications contains full details of the criteria applicants must meet and how to complete and submit a new application or renewal. All candidates for IJ, IM, IRO or IU status and existing officials whose appointment expires this year can access the new system at:

In case of First Applications, it is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the application is made well in advance so that the applicant's Member National Authority (MNA) can evaluate the application and if satisfied, submit the necessary endorsement before the deadline.

With the deadline for completed First Applications and Renewals on 1 September, so far the following applications have been received:

International Judge (IJ) status: 14 First Applications, 41 Renewals
International Measurer (IM) status: 4 First Applications, 5 Renewals
International Race Officer (IRO) status: 13 First Applications, 14 Renewals
International Umpire (IU) status: 5 First Applications, 16 Renewals

With just a few days before the application deadline, ISAF would like to encourage candidates for First Application or Renewal to submit their applications for renewal as soon as possible.

First-time applicants for ISAF International Race Officials status must meet a stringent set of criteria as detailed in the ISAF Regulations. Applications must be approved by the applicants Member National Authority (MNA) and are carefully evaluated by the Sub-committees of each of the four Race Officials disciplines before being approved or rejected by the ISAF Race Officials Committee during the ISAF Annual Conference held every November. Once approved, International Race Officials hold ISAF approved status for four years, after which they must apply to the ISAF Secretariat to have their status renewed.
