Germans Lead After Perfect Sailing Day At Soling Europeans
Hungarians George WOSSALA, Karoly VEZER and Peter NEMETH
Hungarians George WOSSALA, Karoly VEZER and Peter NEMETH had a great day with two bullets

Soling European Championship 2009
Lake Iseo, Italy

After five races of the Soling Europeans in Lake Iseo, Italy, the German team of Roman KOCH, Maxl KOCH and Gregor BORNEMANN hold a narrow overall lead.
The thermal wind as usual started around 12:00, boats before going to the windward mark were conducted through the middle of the town of Lovere, a nice show off for many tourists presents on the different areas of the city.

As said in Italian, it was a 'troppo caldo' (very hot) day but with nice winds of 11 to 15 knots coming from the southwest as usual 200 to 230 degrees.

The first race saw 'buddy' GER 304 of Thomas MASHKIWITZ, Christian OEHLER and Christoph WOSSALA sailing really fast to the right area and it was not really the left as all local ones were imagining, followed by team Marinepool GER 300 of Roman KOCH, Maxl KOCH and Gregor BORNEMANN and Austrian Champion aAUT 117 of Carl AUTERIED, Martin KENDLER and Udo MOSER.

The second race was held in more stable and normal conditions and the left paid, now it was time for the another Team Marinepool - Ramadabalaton HUN 77 of George WOSSALA, Karoly VEZER and Peter NEMETH to take the bullet. Initially there was a tactical fight but then they managed to keep their sponsor partners GER 300 behind who finished second. AUT 117 again sailing fast but not enough to pass them and ended third.

The third race with lighter winds, gave a surprise at the windward mark where USA 853 of Matias COLLINS, Tomas PEUVREL and Emiliano INGRASSIA rounded third just behind Marinepool-Ramadabalaton team HUN 77 and GER 304, who went all the way to the rocks and paid. This first downwind USA 853 lost a position but from them on they kept their place, despite some really bad manoeuvres, one at the first downwind leg, and another at the windward mark that with very light winds and virtually stopped at the offset with the spi flying backwards.

At this point the Wild thing team NOR 128 of Preben ASBJORNOD, Richard FIKSE and Bernt OLE CHRISTIANSEN were in their best position of the event (a third) without knowing that GER 304 were OCS, then they become second and USA 853 third in a surprising day, especially for their bowman, his sixth day in a Soling without ever having competed in any dinghy class.

Tonight a serenata event is scheduled at 21:00 with full moon and some drinks and food at the docks and yacht club. And tomorrow the racing schedule continues with another three races scheduled.

The event is sponsored by Terme di Boario, Reale Mutua, Comisa, Elvstrom Sails, Ferghettina, Firat, Taccolini Distribuzione, Gelatissimo, Porto Nuovo Viaggi, Slopy Joe, Araberara, Porto Turistico Lovere.
