Single-handed Round Ireland Record Attempt Postponed

Dave PARKER (22) has officially abandoned his attempt to break the Single-handed Round Ireland Sailing record.

It seems the damage to the boat's electrical systems is beyond simple repair. The decision was made after discussing the situation with Buncrana lifeboat, considering the local conditions and the limited time remaining.

Parker set off on 3 May 2005 in an attempt to beact the current record for the 708nm circumnavigation which stands at 7 days, 10 hours, 24 minutes and 7 seconds, set by Peter KEIG (GBR) in October 2001.
