Commitment Given To Education Of Race Officials

ISAF Annual Conference 2001
Lisbon

The ISAF November Conference started on Saturday 11 November 2001, in Lisbon, Portugal. The Executive Committee has committed to the future education of ISAF Race Officials.
Committee Meetings will take place all week, concluding at the end of the day on Wednesday 14 November 2001. These Committee Meetings will make recommendations to the Council based on the submissions received. The Council will meet on Friday and Saturday 16-17 November 2001 and take the final decisions on the Committee recommendations.

ISAF will be issuing reports on 16 and 17 November on the key decisions taken at the meetings.

The ISAF Executive Committee met yesterday, and amongst other issues discussed the education and support to be given to the development and education of ISAF Race Officials. It was agreed that the Executive Committee shall include in its budget recommendation to the ISAF Council the necessary funds to ensure that the professional expertise and continuity of the race officials at Special Events, such as the America's Cup, is at the highest possible level.

Tomorrow, Monday 12 November sees meetings of the Match Racing Committee, Race Officials Committee, Women's Sailing Committee and Offshore Racing Committee amongst others.

On Tuesday 13 November, ISAF will host the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards, at which the IOC President Jacques Rogge will be in attendance. Full details of the ISAF Rolex World Sailor Awards are available at www.sailing.org/worldsailor
