Cayard and Gilmour to contest Finals

Tutta Trieste Nations Cup

Paul Cayard and Peter Gilmour will face each other in the finals of the Tutta Trieste Nations Cup Grade 2 Match Racing event.
In the semi finals, yesterday, Cayard beat Tommaso Chieffi by 2-1,and with the same margin, Gilmour reached the final by beating Kevin Harrap.

The semi-finals started with the match between Mitija Kasmina (Slovenian MatchRace) and Paolo Cian of Mascalzone Latino. Kasmina beat Cian with a straight 2-0 result. The afternoon saw the two teams from the One World Consortium, Seattle, USA meet. In the first race, Kevin Harrap beat the boss Peter Gilmour, but Gilmour then went on to win the other two races.

Paul Cayard and Tommasso Chieffi then commenced the deciding race for a place in the final. The two helmsmen from the Oracle Racing Team fought a spectacular race with Cayard winning by a three second gap.

Today sees the matches between Murray Jones and Furio Benussi to decide 7th and 8th positions. For the 6th and 5th places the match will be between Paolo Cian and the loser of the match between Tommaso Chieffi and Kelvin Harrap. The winner will then go on to race Mitjia Kosmina to decide the 3rd and 4th places.

The final will be raced tomorrow, Sunday 24 June.
