Coppa Dei Campioni Match Race

Eight Olympic Medallists are skippers at the Coppa Dei Campioni Match Race taking place in Porto Cervo, Italy. It has been nick named the 'Champions League, of sailing.
The first races will take place today off Porto Cervo in Sardinia, Italy. The eight Olympic yachting medallists have been divided into two groups, who will do a round robin format, with two from each going through to the semi finals on Saturday, and then the winners going through to the finals on Sunday.

The great sailors at this Coppa Dei Campioni Match Race, the 'Champions League' of sailing are as follows: Roman Hagara (AUT) Iain Percy (GBR), Ben Ainslie (GBR), Alessandra Sensini (ITA) - Gold; Jochen Schuman (GER), Margriet Matthisse (NED) - SILVER; Javier Conte (ARG), Charlie McKee (USA) - BRONZE. At last minute there was the forfait of italian silver medal winner Luca Devoti, engaged on Garda Lake for the Finn¹s Europeans.

Race Committee is headed by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda Commodore, Com.Gianfranco Alberini, with Guido Ricetto, Paolo Massarini, Fabrizio De Maddi, Daniele Delogu, Alessandro Sorgia, Marina Simeoni e Francesca Campus. The International umpires are headed by the italian Piero Occhetto with the croatian Neven Baran, danish Jan Stage, spanish lady Maria Torrijo and other italian Giovanni Porcu.

The two Rounds after drawing of pairings are:
