The Race

All the competitors in The Race are currently at sea. Either to finish qualifying before joining Barcelona, or on show to offer us the first great images of the two giants side by side.
In the Mediterranean, Innovation Explorer and Club Med have been sailing off Antibes - in bright sunshine and 20 knots of wind, ideal conditions for unleashing the power. The two boats are now continuing on their way towards the Catalonian capital. Innovation Explorer will firstly finish qualifying and Club MEd, which beat her speed record yesterday with a surf of 38 knots, will head straight for Barcelona where she is expected on Sunday.

Off Portugal, PlayStation was this morning 140 miles NW of Cape St Vincent. All is well on board. When the boat was located, she was sailing at 16 knots on a heading of 190°. Team Adventure is approaching the Straits of Gibraltar which she should pass through within the next few hours. She is expected in Barcelona, 540 miles away on Monday morning.

Warta Polpharma, stopped over in Gijon after being caught in an enormous squall in the Bay of Biscay. A complete check-up of the sails, rigging and the new mast revealed nothing untoward and the Polish crew skippered by Roman Paszke headed back to sea this morning offering themselves two surfs at 33 knots. Pure pleasure if you could hear them! Team Legato (Tony Bullimore), was located last night along the Portuguese coast, and is continuing on her way to the Catalonian capital.
