Paul Cayard at the command of the 1st Oracle racing team inflicted a straight 3-0 victory over the home team Sailing Planet, captained by Furio Benussi, on the third day of regattas at the Nations Cup.
The calm weather conditions made the programme of the event difficult, in fact the morning sessions of regattas had to be cancelled. Cayard and Benussi, after attempting to race for 20 minutes had to stop, but, at around 3pm Cayard took only one and a half hours to dominate the race. The first pair of losers of the quarter finals followed, to race for the third place. Benussi therefore remained in the water to confront Mascalzone Latino of Paolo Cian and Vasco Vascotto but only managed one race due to poor wind, with Cian and Vascotto winning regardless of the conditions.
Tomorrow, this session of races will again commence, followed by the race between Murray Jones (Alinghi) and Mitija Kasmina (Slovenian MR).In the afternoon the first semi final between the two Oracle racing teams with Cayard against Chieffi will take place. The other semi final is on Friday morning, where Peter Gilmour will confront his Americas Cup team mate Kelvin Harrap in the One World team colours.
