Trofeo Zegna

The weather conditions were perfect again with a light seabreeze of 10-12 knots and a bright sun.
Bribon, the Farr 53 of the King of Spain was less impressive than the previous day contrary to what the corrected time results might show. Her pursuers were closer to the King's boat who could only escape in the last race to make a first. The new Marcelo Botin design Banco Espiritu Santo was the best boat of the day and she is probably the challenger of the spanish IMS season for the unbeatable Bribon. They are ahead of Castellon-Costa Azahar who was more hesitant in the tactics. Bribon finally wins the Trofeo Zegna 2001.

The french crew of Krazy K-Yote felt better after its day of racing with encouraging close racing with the leaders. The IMS rating and the speed of the boat must be improved which will be done with a new keel and rudder to be added to the boat until the IMS Worlds in July. A satisfaying corrected time 6th place (3rd in real time) in the first race could even be better if the smaller boats have not been advantaged by a stronger wind at the end of the race. Skipper Luc GELLUSSEAU and architect Juan KOUYOUMDJIAN feel very confident for the future.

Next regatta: Trofeo Godo in Barcelona from May 23rd to 27th.

Final classification after 5 races :
1. BRIBON : 2/1/1/3/1 : 8 pts
2.BANCO ESPIRITU SANTO : 4/6/3/2 : 16 pts
3.CASTELLON COSTA AZAHAR : 1/3/7/7/4 : 22 pts
