Women's European Match Racing

Nadine Stegenwalner and her German crew came out in front to win the Women's J24 European Match Racing Championship in Vilamoura
She beat Swede Marie Bjorling in two matches. The first was a close run thing and Nadine came through with the help of a windshift which allowed her to take the lead on the beat after being fifty metres astern at the leeward mark. In the second match she took the lead after making a brilliant start which left her well ahead of Marie. She never lost her lead and won easily.

Anne le Helley of France took third place, also in two matches, from Elizabeth Kratzig of the United States.

Wednesday's races were held in light winds from the Southwest, which threatened to die in the afternoon.
