Organised by the Member National Authority in Germany, the Deutscher Segler-Verband, 3-4 March 2001 saw the 14th Meeting of German Youth Sailors in Hamburg, Germany.
Participating in this general assembly were over 400 delegates, representing about 40,000 German youth sailors.
Amongst the many matters considered, were the selection of German youth classes that will receive special support from the Deutscher Segler Verband over the next four years.
The assembly voted to re-elect the Optimist, Europe and Laser Radial for another four years. In the double-handed group, six boats - 29er, 420, Pirat, Vaurien, Cadet and Teeny - applied for the three slots. After having discussed the pros and cons of the boats, the assembly chose the Teeny, 420 and Pirat.
The assembly also decided to expand the youth classes by electing the Hobie Cat 16 as a new Catamaran-class.
The Mistral Board was re-elected.
