Obituary

Ian Butler (GBR)

It is with great sadness that we report the passing away of Ian Butler (GBR).

After a long and strongly fought illness, Ian passed away on the night of Saturday 3 March 2001.

Ian was Treasurer of the then International Yacht Racing Union from the mid-1970's until November 1990.

A long-serving member of the RYA Council, Ian started his sailing career in Fireflies and latterly sailed Swallows from Itchenor Sailing Club.

A chartered accountant by profession, prior to retiring Ian was the Chairman of Cookson's.

Our condolences to Ian's wife, Anne and daughters, Vari and Lucy.
