Maciej Grabowski from Poland snatch the overall lead today from Per Moberg NOR after he won both of his group races in light, shifting winds.

Moberg (NOR), who scored a respectable 5th and 2nd was pleased with his results and thought he had done enough to stay in the lead until he looked at the overall score sheet.

Gustavo Lima from Portugal shared the second best set of results of the day with Roope Suomalainen from Finland each getting a first and second. In the second race they seeded in the same start and provided the most exciting battle of the day. Suomalainen led at the first mark. Lima got passed on the downwind only to lose it to the Finn on the next upwind. Lima got back through on the downwind and with Suomalainen right on his transom he had to work hard to keep him behind on the last reach. As they rounded the last mark before the short windward leg to the finish Suomalainen tacked away and Lima was unable to keep him covered. Suomalainen had a slight upwind speed advantage and slowly worked out from underneath Lima until he was in a position to attack with a lee bow. 8 short tacks later the Finn was in front.

Lima's first race also offered a bit of excitement when he lost his lead on the first downwind leg by capsizing - a surprise in the 6 knot winds. He said "this let Marc de Haas through but I had a good second upwind and re took the lead which I held to the finish. It was another tough day. We think too much and our nerves are finished already and we still have the finals. It was a nice day but difficult"
Suomalainen's first race was more straight forward. "I led at the first mark but Maciej passed me on the downwind and then sailed really smart after that and there was really nothing I could do to beat him. Conditions were hard with 20 degree shifts. It's a challenging game as it should be."

In the Youth fleet Britain's Tim Hulse had his worst day so far with a 2nd and 11th but he still has a small lead over Thomas Le Breton from France . Hulse said "In the first race I was leading at the first mark but chose the wrong side of the downwind gate which allowed Andreas Rallatos GRE through. Thomas was just behind me for the rest of the race and once again we had a little tacking dual on the last upwind which made it a little bit more fun. In the second race I got a good start and it looked OK but halfway up the first beat the wind went left and I had to tack underneath a lot of boats. I was about 15th at the first mark but the gaps ahead of me were then quite big so I knew that as the wind was going lighter I would have trouble getting back many places."

The two fleets are now split into gold and silver groups for the remaining 4 races. After 10 races 2 discards will be allowed. Overall results after 8 races with one discard.
