Star World Championships
Medemblik

Grael/Ferreira (BRA) won race 4 at The Star World Championships, Medemblik, The Netherlands after a long wait for the wind, since there was no racing on Wednesday due to the lack of wind.
Therefore yesterday morning the Star Fleet had to leave the harbor at 8.30 a.m. Regrettably the wind only came in the late afternoon and the start was only at 4.45 p.m.! Again the wind showed her streaks: fluky and shifty the Race Committee and Starboats had to follow her on the course, making it very difficult for them all. With a moderate Beaufort 2 the water was flat. The unstable weather gave many surprising changes in the field. However Torben Grael and Marcelo Ferreira (BRA) were ahead of the field from the first weather mark and managed to defend their position to the end. Torben said:' It was very difficult to predict what the wind would do, we needed a lot of luck.' He is still disappointed that last day's race was postponed and thinks also today the race should have been cancelled.

The Dutch competitors Mark Neeleman and Jos Schrier are content with their 7th place of today. They had a good start and according to Jos they feel good. Mark agrees and said they did well today for the overall results. It was really hard in the beginning of the race to get to the weather mark, we rounded this in 60th position, but we managed to gain a lot of places on the way to the finish. This result brings them to a 3rd place overall so far.
