Mirror World Championships

Peter Bayly and William Atkinson (IRL, Lough Derg YC) regained the overall lead in the Datalex-sponsored Mirror World Championships at Howth Yacht Club in Ireland, with a win and a 7th in the two races on day 3 of the event.

In second place is another Irish crew, Nick Meadow and Sam Trott (Carrickfergus SC) who are just six points adrift after the first discard has been applied. Five points further adrift are the leading Australians Torvar Mirsky and Justin Jacob (AUS,Fremantle SC)

Irish Champions Chris and Catherine Forristal (Royal Cork YC) and Britain's Robert Grieg-Gran and Jonathon Telford (Lympstone SC) share fourth overall. They have just a point to spare over British and European Champions David and Jake Gebhard (GBR, Derwent Reservoir SC) whose two third place finishes have moved them up into a strong challenging position.

Bayly and Atkinson were convincing winners of the series' fifth race, ahead of the Australians and the Gebhards and there were six other Irish entries in the top dozen finishers.

With the exception of the Forristals in 2nd place, the sixth race - sailed in a light easterly breeze - was dominated by Australian and British crews, with two of each in the top five. For Mark Barrington and Jessie Atherton (Kingston Beach SC), the win was their best result by far, moving them up to 11th overall.
