J 24 European Championship

In contrary to the previous days the wind force and direction was quite unstable. Shift of 30 degrees were no exceptions and some helmsman even considered to give up their job and to go for a beer.
The ranking has been changed dramatically. The Italian crew of boat boat ITA 434 with helmsmen Paolo Cian is now leading, due to consistent excellent performance during all six races. The other boats in the top 5 are following on short distance. On the second place GBR 4215-Jardine 36 points, NED 57 Kooijman 50 with 50 points, NED 60-van de Berg 56 points and the German boat GER 5266-Tom Loose at the fifth place with 60 points.

Day 3; An eye-withness report

After a very quiet beginning of the day, due to lack of wind, race 5 of the European Championship started only half an hour late. Today, the competition was surprisingly though and tricky, for the last ones as well as for the boats in the fore front. There are already speculations about creating more separate nominations, for example one to be given to the best "Zeeuw of Europe". The province Zeeland (Sealand) is represented by 4 boats, and it seems that those - together with some foreigners - are racing a race on its own. At least, that was the strategy. Today, that didn't work out; we ended up last but one anyway.
Before starting race 6, the second race of the day, we were again waiting for some wind. After the officials had changed the mark bouys again and again, finally the wind picked up and so around 2 o'clock it was possible to start. This time we were more lucky, as we left even seven boats behind us. All in all, a very exiting day ... and the BBQ still to come !
