The championship so far has revealed another talent, 14 year-old João HACKEROTT (BRA) joined the top three scoring a fifth in yesterday's race. Sailing with Constantin VASSILAS and Jorge ZARIFF they are the youngest and lightest crew of the Championship. "We were hoping for the light winds to come, just like today with no more than 6 knots." said the young skipper. "This way we're able to be faster in conditions that aren't that favourable for the other teams that are too heavy."
The third race of the championship was forecast to start at 13.00, local time, but as the heat kicked in the light start to the day continued and racing finally got underway at 15.00 in the few puffs that were on the lake.
The two race leaders got a fantastic start to the race, leading at the first mark with Sumner in the lead. But the shifty, light conditions put paid to that as huge shifts meant huge position changes.
What comes around goes around though an on the final leg, a 90 degree windshift and the sea breeze filling in from the left, gave the pack leaders their positions back, and the rest of the fleet wondering what they are going to have to do to catch the two Brazilians.
