Volvo Ocean Race

Team Tyco’s lead did not hold for a long time and within the last six hour period ASSA ABLOY has taken one mile out of her.
ASSA ABLOY and illbruck seem to have chosen the fastest lanes with the highest wind speeds (northwest with 18 knots), News Corp, Amer Sports One and Tyco having about two knots less wind. The trailing three boats are in different wind systems which makes it harder for them to catch up. Amer Sports Two, together with djuce has got the wind from the northeast, which gives them a downwind course, sailing to the southeast. Even though the wind is up in the mid twenties they are sailing slower on this particular course. Team SEB tries to head back towards the fleet from her easterly position and has to sheet in further. For the first time in this Volvo Ocean Race the gap between the leader and the last boat widens up considerably.
