AYF Advertisement License System

The Australian Yachting Federation (AYF) has suspended the introduction of the proposed Advertising Licence System for racing sailboats. The new system was due to go into place as of 1 July.
The Australian Yachting Federation (AYF) has suspended the introduction of the proposed Advertising Licence System for racing sailboats at the 11th hour, following a review of funding initiatives. There will now be no charge for craft competing under Category C of the ISAF Advertising Code in Australia this year. The decision follows a Special General Meeting of the AYF Federal Assembly on Friday, June 29, at which each State and Territory Yachting Association (MYA) was represented. It was proposed that, to avoid the need for revenue from the Advertising License System, membership fees paid to the AYF should be increased in 2002-2003 to ensure the Federation's on-going viability. The AYF Board accepted undertakings from the MYAs regarding a fee increase and immediately rescinded the licensing system, which was to have taken effect from July 1.
