Formula Windsurfing Euro Cup

Wojtek Brzozowski (POL) won the first race of the Formula Windsurfing Euro Cup event taking place in Miedzyzdroje, Poland this week.
103 competitors have gathered in Poland to take part in this event, part of the Euro Cup series of events. This event has the largest prize purse of the series with 75 000 euros, which has probably helped draw competitors from all over the world. The majority are from Poland, but there is a large German contingent also.

Wojtek Brzozowski has been dominating the Formula windsurf events this season, and started well too at this event, winning the first race that was raced in unstable and shifting 8 to 15 knot winds. Second was Janne Olavi Rauhansuu (FIN) and third Jesper Vesterstorm (DEN). Ten competitors were disqualified for being over the start line early. With nearly 100 competitors travelling towards the start at high speed it is very exciting, and the pressure is on to get a good start, which can cause some to go over the line too early.
