Franco Portiglia (ITA)

It is with regret that ISAF reports the passing away of Franco Portiglia.

It is reported, via an Italian news website, that Franco Portiglia passed away on Wednesday after an incident in a light aircraft he was piloting.

Franco, who has been at the helm of the renowned boat builder Nautivela for many years has always been very involved with the sport.

Nautivela have been very supportive to sailing supplying boats to numerous ISAF events, including most recently the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in France, and in the past the 1994 and 1998 ISAF World Sailing Championships, and many others.

ISAF expresses our condolences to Franco's family at this very sad time.
